Washing instructions - FAQ
Cashmere garments should preferably be washed by hand in lukewarm water (no higher than 30°C) using mild detergents such as Cashmere Soap (insert link to product). Avoid rubbing and twisting. We recommend immersing the garment, leaving it to soak for a few minutes and massaging it gently. Finally, rinse well and pat dry with a towel, without wringing.
Cashmere can only be washed in the washing machine using specific programmes for wool or delicate items, and always on a cold cycle. Place the garment in a protective bag and set the spin cycle to minimum. However, hand washing remains the best option for preserving the softness of cashmere.
Cashmere garments should never be tumble dried. After washing, it is best to lay the garment on a towel, roll it up to remove excess water and leave it to dry flat, in the shade and away from heat sources.
The garment should be washed, folded and stored in a dry place, preferably inside a breathable cotton bag. Hangers should be avoided, as they can deform the knit. It is a good idea to add a natural moth repellent such as cedar wood.
Cashmere garments can be ironed, but only with a low-temperature iron and preferably with a cloth between the garment and the iron. Alternatively, steam may be sufficient to smooth out the fibres.
Pilling is a natural phenomenon that occurs due to friction between the fibres. It is not a defect, but a typical characteristic of natural yarns. You can remove the bobbles using a special cashmere comb or a soft brush, gently brushing the garment. After two or three washes, the excess fluff will disappear, leaving the core of the fibre.
